General notes >

These icons are used over the synth to represent the various waveforms/oscillators (in the Routing sections and the Mixer) :
     : Oscillator #1 / Square wave - Pulse 1
     : Oscillator #2 / Square wave - Pulse 2
     : Oscillator #3 / Triangle
     : Noise oscillator
Hold the Control key on your keyboard while changing a value (sliders or knobs) for finer tuning control.
Right Click on slider/button/knob for midi learn.
Each controls has a mark which identifies its default/off position. This plugins has no value reset function, this will help you remember. Other default positions are identified in this manual.
Under the Fine Octave slider, You can manually type values to set it back to 0 or to attain an even lower/higher pitch.
All effects can be bypassed for a more pure NES Sound using the Effect Bypass switch or the individual effects Bypass switches. If no sound is coming out, make sure at least one type of each effect is selected (including Direct output / True bypass)
Some effects may cause audible clicks in your signal during adjustments (Bass Decay for example).
Why is there a red box around the Filter switch on the effects modulation? Because if you are not careful it can totally crash the signal. This WILL happen of you use too much rate or if the Pitch Tracking is too high. Use with precaution. If that happens the plugin will only emit a loud buzzing sound. To fix this you have to either remove and add the plugin in your track, or restart your host.

Installation >

- Extract the content of the zip file.
- Copy the DLL files in your host's Plugin or VST directory.
- If you don't have any host or VST plugin player, I strongly suggest using the excellent and free VSTHost or SaviHost from Hermann Seib.

Modulation + Envelopes (LFO & ADSR) >

There are four independant LFO's and ADSR's modules for Volume, Pitch, Pulse Width / Curve / Enveloppes, and Effects which can be also affected by the pitch being played. They all offer the same controls :

Modulation (LFO) :
LFO Shape: Select the LFO's shape between Sine, Ramp (reverse Saw), Saw, Triangle, Square
Rate : Adjust the speed of the LFO.
Amt (Amount) : Adjust the Amount.
Dly (Delay) : Adjust the time delay before the LFO starts.

Crv : Changes the LFO's Response Curve between Linear or Exponential (only on Volume modulation).

Envelope (ADSR) :
A (Attack) : Adjust the time taken for initial run-up of level from nil to peak, beginning when the key is first pressed.
D (Decay) : Adjust the time taken for the subsequent run down from the attack level to the designated sustain level.
S (Sustain) : Adjust the level during the main sequence of the sound's duration, until the key is released.
R (Release) : Adjust the time taken for the level to decay from the sustain level to zero after the key is released.
Vol/Int (Volume/Intensity) : Changes the overall volume/intensity of the ADSR (You need Vol/Int for the ADSR to work).
Crv : Changes the ADSR's Response Curve between Linear or Exponential (only on Volume modulation).

Options :
Qnt (Quantizing) : Adjust the resolution/quantization of the LFO and ADSR's output.
PT/M : Adjust the Multiplier value of the Pitch Tracking.
PT/F : Adjust the Frequency of the Pitch Tracking.
G : Adjust the Glide/Portamento of the Pitch Tracking.
Rev (<) : Reverses the Pitch Tracking, allowing high notes/pitch to create a slow LFO and low notes/pitch to create a faster LFO.

PT (Pitch Tracking) : Routes the Pitch Tracking to the following values :
LF : LFO Rate. Low notes will create a slow LFO while higher notes will create a faster LFO.
AD : ADSR
Qn : Quantization
QL : Quantization + LFO

Routing sliders : Adjust the amount of modulation (ADSR & LFO) to be applied to each waveforms (not available on the EFX Modulation).

Routing - Pitch modulation :

- FM : " " FM mix
- P2 : " " FM Operator #2
- Ba : " " Bass
- P2lv : " " FM Operator #2's level
- Rv : " " Reverb

Notes :
- The ADSR needs Intensity to work.
- The Quantize function on the Pitch LFO-ADSR can be used to create a kind of arpeggiator effect.
- Release (r) does not work with the sequencer, it only affects keyboard playing. It also causes Sustain to be infinite. - The Pitch LFO also affects Triangle frequency rate.

Step Sequencer >

Clear/Save/Load Pattern : Click the empty area left to the arrow to clear, save or load a pattern. You can also click below the sequencer to bring up the menu.
Active : Activates the sequencer. If you really want to turn off the sequencer, you need to set Speed to 0 and uncheck Host. If Active is checked, notes played by the sequencer will cut off similar notes played on the keyboard.

Speed : Adjust the Sequencer speed when Host Sync is not used
Divide : Divide the host/DAW clock speed
Dir (Direction) : Selects the direction of the sequencer
- Fwd : Forward

- Rnd : Random
- Restart : Retrigger/Restarts the pattern on the first step
Transpose : Transpose the melody to different keys/tones.
Steps : Adjust the Sequence lenght
Skip : Skip steps, helpful to create pattern variations on the fly

Notes :
-You can play the keyboard while the sequencer is playing, but if the sequencer hits a note you play it will retrigger its envelope.

Notes :
-Monophonic mode (Poly button) with Retrig on does not work with the sequencer, unless you are also using the arpeggiator with 1,3,6,12 or 24 divide. -You can simulate note hold by adjusting the Release value of the Volume to its highest value. Better when in Monophinic mode as it cancels the previous note played.

Known Bugs >

Using too much rate or Pitch Tracking on the filters will crash the signal! Be aware!
Changing the Sequencer or the Arpeggiator's Divide function from 1 to 64 might cause them to hang. To fix them make sure the Host function is in the Off position, then play a little with the manual speed, and then put the Host function in the On position (yeah I know its a little weird).
Monophonic mode (Poly button) with Retrig on does not work with the sequencer, unless you are also using the arpeggiator with 1,3,6,12 or 24 divide.
P/R on Smooth sometimes stops playing certain notes when active while Smo is 0, P/R is 0 and P/M is over one quarter.
Quantize modulation make audible clicks when using Sine or Triangle waveforms, due to the nature of a quantizer (the same would happen with a Bit Crusher).
Reverbs don't works when input is too loud and size is high. You need to set a low size value for the reverbs to work with high input gain.
Some effects may cause audible clicks in your signal during adjustments (Bass Decay for example).
